Today’s session on dealing with mental therapies was indeed marvelous. This was my 2nd HCI meet and I am already having a feeling to attend as much as I can. The clinical psychologists Mr. Kuldeep Datay and Mrs. Siddika conducted a very interactive session. As always, Umang Sheth played the perfect host and made sure everyone’s questions/queries get addressed. I must say that almost all questions raised by the host as well as the audience were so much relatable and the answers given to it just refined our thought process.
Here are some of the key takeaways, I would like to share-
1. Self preservation is important before being a caregiver; self preservation is NOT being selfish
2. One needs to really work on his/her expectations first before doing anything for others. Do it because you want to do it and not because its your “duty” or in favour of expecting something. This is the way to feel “light” and to deal with overthinking
3. Mental illness is as normal as having a physical illness and nothing like something to hide or be ashamed of
4. Its very important to set the expectations right before doing anything for your loved ones
5. Always focus on spending quality time to spend with your loved ones rather than quantity
6. Positive thinking, motivational speeches work but when you realize its not working never hesitate to seek help from professional psychotherapist/psychologist
Can’t thank you enough Umang for making this happen!
